How It All Started

BearHand provides its clients with a dedicated level of attention to their new construction or remodel projects that is often missing with large construction firms. We believe that commitment to quality is paramount to a successful project and can never be placed second to speed or profits. It is this reason that we pride ourselves on giving every project the attention to detail that it truly deserves. To us, a successful project is one where we leave a positive, lasting impression on everyone we work with and accept no less.

A Veteran-Owned New Hampshire Builder

BearHand Construction is a veteran-owned and operated design and remodeling firm based in Deering, NH. We specialize in whole-home remodels, kitchen & bath renovations, additions, and new home construction — built on transparency, quality, and a genuinely client-focused process. That military-rooted discipline shows up in how we plan, communicate, and finish every job.

Meet the Owners

James Ryan — Owner

James founded BearHand in 2020 after years building things and leading teams. A U.S. Army veteran, he served as a Construction Engineering Supervisor and as a Drill Sergeant and senior instructor, then spent seven years as a Construction Project Manager handling insurance reconstruction projects across New England. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration (Small Business Management) from Southern New Hampshire University, where he graduated summa cum laude. James pairs hands-on construction expertise with disciplined project management and estimating.

John McCulloch — Owner

John brings a deep background in residential and commercial restoration and project management. A U.S. Army Reserve Drill Sergeant and senior instructor, he spent years as a Large-Loss and Loss-Restoration Project Manager — managing complex, high-value reconstruction projects and working directly with homeowners, adjusters, and trade partners. That experience translates into careful planning, clear communication, and a steady hand on even the most involved BearHand projects.
